About
When I started my business, I didn’t know what an EIN was, whether I needed an LLC, or that I had to pay taxes every quarter. I found answers scattered across government sites, sales pages and forum threads, and I learned most things by getting them wrong first.
Business101.fyi is the resource I wished I’d had: plain-English guides to starting and running a business in the United States, for solo founders, freelancers and small business owners.
Who runs it
The site is run by its founder, who owns and operates a small US software company. Guides include short founder notes where first-hand experience adds something a government page can’t.
I’m not a CPA or an attorney. That’s why every guide is built from primary sources (the IRS, state agencies and other official sites), links to those sources, and tells you when your situation is one a licensed professional should look at.
How guides are made
Guides are drafted with AI from primary sources, then checked claim by claim before they’re published. Tax figures and fees come from a single data file that is verified against official sources. Read the full editorial policy.
How the site makes money
Through advertising and affiliate links, clearly labeled. Money never changes what a guide recommends. See disclosures.
